WNY MUSLIMS Encourages Interfaith Tolerance & Unity

Buffalo, NY – WNYMuslims will be hosting their annual event Roses of The Prophets in collaboration with the Muslim Women's Council, a subcommittee of the Muslim Student Association from University at Buffalo, this week. This year the event will take place at two locations: Sunday October 18th at the Walden Galleria Mall from 2p.m.-4p.m., and Monday October 19th at UB North, Student Union from 2p.m.-4p.m. The event aims to spread awareness by passing out multicolored roses along with inspirational words of Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him), Prophet Jesus (pbuh) and Prophet Moses (pbuh) to community members.

Roses of the Prophet is part of a larger outreach effort to reverse the negative stereotypes and prejudices, while helping to open the hearts and minds of those that may have reservations about the Islamic faith and Muslim community. It is vital now more than ever that the community unites to discourage cultural discrimination, hate crimes and shed respectability politics. Our hope is to break down these barries that are prohibiting the continuity of interfaith tolerance and instead increase a diverse understanding among all.

WNYMuslims serves the Western New York community  by creating awareness, encouraging diversity, and providing service. We empower Muslims and non-Muslims alike with the means to voice, connect, and contribute through creative media. WNYMuslims encompasses these core values to provide a platform for our community to write their own narrative by encouraging them to actively participate in the mainstream media.
