Managing Editor Job Description
WNYMuslims is looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional organizational skills to join our team. The part-time position of Managing Editor is available immediately. WNYMuslims serves the Western New York community by creating awareness, encouraging diversity, and providing service. We empower Muslims and non-Muslims with the means to voice, connect, and contribute through creative media.
Qualifications:
- Strong communication and writing skills, professionalism and meticulous organizational skills
- Must be energetic, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Must be responsible and have reliable transportation
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication, business or other related field
- Must be willing to be in front of the camera for productions and/or news outlets
- Must have a flexible schedule and the availability to work on evenings and weekends
Recommended Qualifications:
- Media Experience(Video, Photo, Design)
- Event Planning Experience
Tasks:
- Manage website content, email accounts, e-newsletter and social media
- Recruit and manage interns
- Community Outreach – be an active part of the local Western New York community, promote our organization and develop lasting relationships with local organizations and businesses.
- Seek local sponsorship and donations for projects
- Attend all board meetings and take meeting minutes and following up on Agenda items and task items
- Coordinate guests and outline for the public broadcast television shows
- Be able to adapt to other tasks as needed
