The month of Rajab marks a time of spiritual renewal, leading to Sha’ban and Ramadan. It is a sacred period where Muslims are encouraged to increase acts of worship, seek forgiveness, and strengthen family bonds. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to welcome Rajab with the following supplication asking for blessings in Rajab and Sha’ban and preparation for Ramadan:
Transliteration: "allahumma barik lana fi rajabin wa sha`bana wa ballighna shahra ramadana wa a`inna `ala alssiyami walqiyami wa hifzi allisan wa ghaddi albasari wa la taj`al hazzana minhu alju`a wal`atasha .
Translation: "O Allah, please bless us in Rajab and Sha`ban. and bring us to the month of Ramadhan, and assist us in fasting, and worshipping, to be careful in our speech, and turning our eyes from the unlawful. let our only share of it not be only hunger and thirst! ”As one of the four sacred months emphasized in the Qur'an and Hadith, Rajab calls for self-discipline, refraining from sin, and engaging in righteousness. The 27th night of Rajab, known as Isra and Mi’raj, commemorates the Prophet’s miraculous journey where he received the gift of five daily prayers, underscoring the importance of Salah.
This month offers a unique opportunity for self-reflection, devotion, and alignment with Allah’s guidance. May we fully embrace its blessings and prepare our hearts for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
Rajab Mubarak!
