Management experience required, as well as experience working in a school environment.
Qualified applicants must be reliable and meticulous with record keeping, have very strong leadership skills, and have good computer skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain and balance a debt free budget accounting for all income and expenses.
- Maintaining student records. Student breakfast and lunch consumption records must be recorded daily in our POS system.
- Creating menus based on government guidelines. Universal School participates in the NSLP and takes pride in meeting the explicit health requirements for nutritious meals both for breakfast and lunch. Using the six cents program, breakfast and lunch menus must be created to meet the guidelines.
- Daily production records for both breakfast and lunch must be maintained. Analysis of past menus, production records, and student participation must be analyzed regularly to improve student participation.
- Reporting data to NYS for breakfast and lunch reimbursement. Claims are reported monthly, and the claims that are reimbursed are solely for the cafeteria program to use for all food, materials, and salary of the cafeteria.
- Collaborating with staff members and volunteers for fundraising. The cafeteria department is an autonomous entity responsible for its fiscal security. Government claims never cover the required funds to support the cafeteria program. Fundraising and improving student participation in both the breakfast and lunch program are the responsibility of the cafeteria director so that the program can be successful.
