‘Kids 4 Kids’ Toy Drive Donation Ceremony

‘Kids 4 Kids’ Toy Drive D...

Kids 4 Kids Toy Drive Donation Ceremony. During the holy month of Ramadan a large emphasis is placed on increasing your charity work in the community. The kids in the Muslim community we’re trying to think of some way that they could give back to others that are in need. They came up with the idea of having a toy drive and donating the gifts to the children at Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo. With the help of the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier (ISNF), WNY Muslims and Universal School, they were able to collect and distribute the toys. The toy drive took place towards the end of Ramadan with a goal of donating the gifts to the children right after the Muslim holiday Eid-al-Fitr which took place on July 17, 2015. Approximately 80 toys we’re donated to children of all faiths between the ages of 9-26 years old. A variety of items donated were rattles, movies, gift cards, barbie dolls and much more.

Ambereen Muqtadir, was one of the key youth in leading this initiative and helping to coordinate the efforts along with several other kids of all ages. Tara Young and Deb King from the Child Life Development department of Women & Children’s Hospital we’re very excited to be able to assist in this ambitious project. On the day of distribution, 15 kids from 6-18 years of age attended the donation ceremony and helped in passing out the toys to the kids personally.

Kids 4 Kids Drive by Muslim kids received wide recognition as it is in the true spirit of Ramadan and celebration of Eid festival that teaches us to share the blessings and happiness with others. As Yasin Ghous, the president of ISNF, said in his Eid Sermons, “It is obligatory on Muslims to share this occasion of happiness with their neighbors and not to forget those who are less fortunate.”
