On the evening of December 10th a generous act was performed at Masjid An-Noor. Dr. Pervez Khan and his family
donated a substantial amount of $25,000 to Roswell Park Cancer Institute for Prostate cancer. Many community members were present to witness this event. In addition, Mary Rose, Dr. James Mohler and Dr. Johar Syed were present from Roswell Park to receive the donation.
The evening began with Qur’an recitation and benediction by Imam Khalilullah. WNYMuslims collaborated with Sunspin media to make a short interview video of Dr. Khan and his family which was also shown at the event.
Dr. Pervez Khan is originally from Sargodha, Pakistan and is currently a provider at WNY Medical, PC. He is also the founder of “Imdad Ali Charitable Trust” which is named after his father. Charity is a family tradition in Dr. Khan’s family which has been passed down from his father. Upholding his family’s legacy of giving charity, which also coincides with the Islamic traditions, Dr. Khan donated a substantial amount to Roswell Park.
There was an exclusive attendance of supporters for Dr. Khan’s decision of this generous donation. Furthermore, the representatives from Roswell Park were interviewed where they shared how this donation will help Roswell in their research.
All in all, this great gesture by Dr. Khan and his family was an encouragement to our community, especially to our youth that while we donate generously to local mosques or overseas, it is also important to fund medical facilities. This is important because cancer has become so prevalent in our community, that it will directly or indirectly affect us. Hence, by funding such medical facilities as Roswell Park, we can make a huge difference in our community.
