What is Studio Kalam? The Islamic term Kalam means discussion or discourse, an opportunity to reflect and share on any subject. That is exactly what we aim to do; by bringing people from any and all faiths together to discuss anything and everything, we can celebrate the diversity that encompasses Western New York.

What happens at Studio Kalam? You can make new friends, express your thoughts, feelings and creativity, which will help you to overcome hardships in your community, explore your entrepreneurship skills.  There are also opportunities for social and professional networking, to celebrate culture and diversity while joining lively conversations.

Chand Raat Coverage

Our Chaand Raat Event which took place on July 5th, Tuesday night, was a spectacular event thanks to Mirza Ashraf who sang as well as our own community members who sang with karaoke. We also had several  vendors who had many beautiful prom dresses, jewelry, fancy hair lace wigs,delicious food, and henna to sell. The party lasted until after midnight at the gymnasium in Trinity Methodist Church. 

 

Ghazal and Qawali Concert coverage

WNY Muslims sponsored a very successful Qawali concert last Thursday thanks to all those who participated, donated, and volunteered. Amjad Sabri sang the night away with devotional music, ghazals, and much more with his melodious voice resonating throughout the grand ballroom at Adam’s Mark Hotel. A gathering of over 250 people full of exuberance were there to cheer the performers on and encourage them to continue singing a variety of diverse songs from religious to humorous ranging from Hindi to Punjabi songs. This was Studio Kalaam’s biggest event yet and with help from the community can continue on with more fun-filled events. Ghazal and Qawali Concert on the 19th of May

Internationally famous performer, Amjad Sabri is appearing for the first time in Buffalo on Thursday the 19th at 7pm at Adam’s Mark Hotel, 120 Church St. Buffalo, NY. Tickets may be purchased by calling us at 923-4386. Student tickets are only $10 but limited to 2 per person. Student ID is required at the door. Limited tickets only so purchase now.

Community Campaign/Voter Registration Forum

WNY Muslims is hosting an event for our community where you meet the campaigners and decide which candidate you want as President on Sunday, April 10th at 4110 Bailey Avenue in Amherst from 4-6pm. Voter Registration forms and help will also be provided for those who haven’t registered.

  
” Mushaira” Event coverage
An evening of Poetry

The Mushaira Event which took place last Saturday, March 5, 2016 was a beautiful way to spend the evening with over a hundred attendants listening to original poems in both Urdu and Punjabi languages.  It was nice to see the reaction of the audience where some seemed touched by the emotional poems, perhaps reminding them of their own personal journey. Some poems were humorous evoking laughter resonating the banquet hall of the Jaffarya Center. It was a fun-filled event which may continue to grow and reach more people, thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and the ten participants from all over the country who shared their poetry.

WNY Muslims is hosting a special event in which poets  to celebrate beautiful poetry at Jaffarya Center of Buffalo on March 5th, 2016. The event will begin at 7:30pm after Isha Prayer. Admission is $3 per person 2 for $5. There will be food vendors .


“Chaand Raat”
The Night of the Moon Celebration

WNY Muslims hosted a special Studio Kalam event to celebrate Eid Mubarak at the Boys and Girls Club on Thursday, July 16th. There were a variety of small business vendors selling clothing, jewelry, body care products and giving out henna tattoos. The event was well attended with more than 100 people that came to shop, eat , listen to Nasheed and have henna done.

Ice cream Social

Studio Kalam provided fantastic entrepreneurship opportunities to women to sell and market their products. Women were seen selling jewellery, food, clothing, dolls and also providing services such as henna tattoos etc. The Studio Kalam experience was enriched by insightful talks and speeches by the participants. The evening also livened up with a game of jeopardy that children enjoyed. For more information, please click here.
