Advisory Board


Faizan founded WNYMuslims to connect the local Muslim community and create a forum for learning, training, and opening a dialogue. You can spot him at most local events, connecting with community members and building bridges.

Legal Counsel

A accomplished attorney at law in Western New York, a community leader and is dedicated to promote diversity in this region. He has served on many local boards and is a well respected attorney.

Editorial Board

Shahneel Ahmed
Project Manager

Shahneel was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. She is a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. She is assisting WNY Muslims as a project manager, while also working part-time as a medical assistant at a local doctor’s office.

Tehniyet Azam
Associate Executive Director

Tehniyet is the Associate Executive Director of WNY Muslims. She has dual major in Organizational Psychology, Health Science and a minor in Sociology.  She has various leadership experiences in health, community outreach and education. Previously she has written grants for the Lake county government in Illinois. She has aided WNYMuslims as Associate Exective Director , assisting with related projects such as “Roses of the Prophet”, Halal Soup Kitchen, Closet of Humanity and many more. She also represents WNY Muslims in local media. She is the community editor for the Collective magazine. She has also represented WNYMuslims at Interfaith events in the Greater Buffalo region. 

Outreach, Nonprofit, Govt Affairs & CIFF Coordinator

Richard is a native to the Western New York region. He has had seven internships including three newspapers, one NYS Assemblyman, Congressman Brian Higgins and an internship with WNYMuslims. He has a B.A. degree from SUNY Fredonia in journalism, with a minor in political science and Arts & New Media. He currently is subcontracted to WNYMuslims as the Collective International Film Festival Coordinator and for Community Outreach.

Project Manager

Amber is a mother of three who has volunteered for various organizations. She is skilled in communications, marketing, and financial fields so is a great fit for her. As a Project Manager, she has lead many projects and is in charge of WNY Muslims website, social media including FB, Youtube, & twitter as well as writing newsletters, press releases, and community announcements. She hopes to be an asset to this organization by not only helping WNY community but by expanding its vision at a national level as well.
