Special Message to the Community from Universal School

Dear Universal School Parents, Supporters and Community Members

Assalamu Alaikum.

The Universal School students, teachers, staff, and the board would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support, confidence and participation in the Muslim Women’s Night for the last fifteen years. While this event is an important fundraiser for the school, it also allows us to provide a place where women can get together to share in sisterhood, alongside shopping, dinner, and good company. This year the organizing committee decided to hold our event at the Adam’s Mark in order to be able to accommodate our increasing number of supporters, guests and vendors.

Our organizers spent months meticulously planning each detail of this event, particularly in assuring that the food served by Adam’s Mark met requirements of a Halal meal. During the event however it was brought to the attention of the organizers that one of the buffet salad served that evening contained pork. The organizers immediately made an announcement to notify the guests of this unfortunate happening. Regrettably by then, some of the guests had already eaten the salad. May Allah forgive us all for our mistakes.

Onsite, Adam’s Mark management was also immediately notified of this critical incident. The organizers have conveyed the gravity and seriousness of the situation to the administration of Adams Mark and are working diligently to rectify this situation. We understand the anguish and suffering of our guests who were affected. The Universal School organizers of the event regret the unforeseen incident and pray to Allah for forgiveness.

We want the community to know that we take this matter very seriously. We want to assure the community that with your continuing support Universal School will carry on its mission to serve the community with renewed commitment and strive for academic and spiritual excellence for its students, teachers and staff.

Wa Salaam,

The Universal School Board
