“Turkish Passport” Movie Screening at UB

Last night’s film was an eye-opening documentary that was sponsored by Turkish Cultural Center at Buffalo, Intercultural Understanding club of UB, Turkish Graduate Student Association & Peace Islands Institute. This message was dedicated to promote harmony across the United States. “Turkish Passport” tells the stories of many French Jews of Turkish origin who were saved from the concentration camps by the efforts of Turkish diplomats stationed in France. Hundreds of Jews were saved in this way. In 1943, eight trains left France full of these Jewish Turkish citizens and safely moved them all to Turkey, saving their lives successfully.

If any of the community members wish to view the film again, TCC Buffalo is planning the screening again at the Turkish Cultural Center at Buffalo in the upcoming weeks. Please visit their website for more information at www.turkishculturalcenter.org
