Families from the Muslim Community in Western New York came out in the cold winter weather to enjoy a full day of tubing at Colden Tubing. Colden Tubing is located in the Southern Tier of Western New York. The event was organized by some of the attendees of Masjid Noor. Each month the mosque tries to organize events for the families to attend together. These activities have shown to be a perfect way for families in the community to get together and get know each other better.
Arrival began at about 11am and families placed their belongings in the open lodge area and the kids headed straight over to go tubing. The open lodge area was filled with snacks of all kinds as well as hot beverages for the attendees. There was a long line to get to the top of the tubing hill but eager attendees waited patiently for their turn. The hill was carefully carved out into specific lanes for each participant to go down. Each lane was designed for the participant to enjoy a specific speed. The lanes were carved out to go faster or slower than the others. On the right hand side towards the bottom, there were a couple of half tubing lanes for the smaller children to go down and still experience the thrill of tubing.
There was an amazing turnout of about 75 people who attended and participated in the tubing in the cold frigid weather out in Colden, NY. Halfway through the day lunch consisting of different kinds of pizza was served for all of the attending families. There wasn’t enough room for everyone to eat together so some of the attendees went into an adjacent lodge to eat. Salat took place in the adjacent lodge area and was held by Imam Mufti Nazim Mangera from Masjid An-Noor and Imam Ismail Ayash from Masjid Al-Eiman. The event was a great way for families of the community to come together and enjoy time with each other.
