BUFFALO, NY: On Monday, September 26, WNYMuslims hosted a Pakistani delegation in collaboration with the International Institute of Buffalo (IIBU).
The delegation comprised 7 members:
- Dr. Anum AKRAM, Corporate Relationship Manager, The Indus Hospital
- Ms. Zoya ANWER, Independent Multimedia Journalist
- Mr. Qamar Abbas CHEEMA, Lecturer, Peace and Conflict Studies, National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad
- Mr. Qasim JAVAID, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder, Rizq
- Ms. Sana KHALID, Program Manager, Information Technology University Lahore
- Mr. Umair Babar KHAN YOUSAFZAI, Spokesperson and Secretary Information, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)
- Ms. Zaneb SHOUKAT, Coordinator, Lincoln Corner in Multan, Bahauddin Zakariya University.
The program started with a visit to Masjid An-Noor, for which we are extremely grateful to the Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier. The visit set off with a mosque tour followed by a meeting, presided by Prof. Faizan Haq, Founding President, WNYMuslims, and supported by Ms. Farina Mirza, Executive Director, WNYMuslims, in which they were got exposed to the current status of Muslims/Pakistani diaspora in WNY and in the USA in general, from the point of view of social empowerment with the emphasis on the improvement of skills, knowledge, and self-perception; the session ended with a Q/A session.
Later the delegates were hosted by Dr. Yasar Shad at Desi Khaba Restaurant for the dinner, for which we are grateful to him from the bottom of our hearts. Finally, the visit got wrapped up with a small gathering at Prof. Haq’s residence.
