The Muslim women of the community all gathered at the Hotel Lafayette on Saturday, May 2, 2015 to enjoy Universal School’s Annual Dinner event, “Muslim Women’s Night”. This event has been going on for several years and once again was a success. Vendors for the bazaar arrived early to set up all of their items for sale and auction. Mothers were seen preparing their children for their performances that evening
The evening began 6pm where the attendees shopped in the bazzar and purchased items such as hijabs, abayas, evening dresses and items for the home while enjoying appetizers.
In the bazaar area there were vendors selling pampering services such as massages, make-up, manicures, threading and henna art. Some of those vendors were RGA Clothing, Maha Darweesh Clothing, Universal Home Goods, Universal School Clothing and Integrity Pest Services. Other vendors had informational tables where they represented their organizations and all of the amazing things each one is doing. Some of those organizations were Rahama, Access of WNY, WNYMuslims and WNY Medical.
Access of WNY posted a board showing pictures of of the children and families in the Lackawanna community. They also had items for purchase at their table for fundraising. Rahama posted some information about the organization itself and how someone could become involved.
The bazaar area was closed for a short while as the event continued into the dining area. There was beautiful Quran recitation that began the function and a song was performed by the students of the school. The principal of the school, Sahar Maddah launched the event with her welcome speech and starting off with door prizes and raffles. There was a great buzz in the crowd as the 1st place winner won a 7 inch tablet. In the bazaar area there was a table set up with bags of popcorn and one of those bags had a winning raffle ticket attached that gave them a 21 karat gold ring.
After dinner and desert, the bazaar area opened again for the women to go and enjoy. Inside the dining area auctions of one of a kind baskets were given away as well as a fashion show where all of the clothing items were all auctioned off as a fundraiser. At the conclusion of the evening the women went home pampered, a wonderful dinner and bags full of goodies.
