WNYMuslims to Host ‘Muslim Journeys’ Adult Reading and Discussion Program

WNYMuslims is excited to announce that it will be hosting an adult reading and discussion program, beginning this fall, titled ‘Muslim Journeys.’  The first of four meetings will be held Wednesday, September 18th at 6:30 pm at the University at Buffalo’s North Campus, Capen Hall, Room 257.  The program is co-sponsored by the University at Buffalo’s Cora P. Maloney College, and was made possible through the award of a NY Council for the Humanities grant.  Dates and locations for all meetings can be found on the Events page of

WNYMuslims is a community based organization that serves Western New York by creating awareness, encouraging diversity, and providing service.  Our mission is to empower Muslims and non-Muslims to voice, connect, and contribute by utilizing creative media.

The NY council for the Humanities Adult Reading and Discussion grant is part of the National Endowment for the Humanities Bridging Cultures initiative.  Professor Faizan Haq of the University at Buffalo will be the scholar facilitator for the discussions.

The books that will be read throughout the program include Acts of Faith: the Story of an American Muslim, the Struggle for the Soul of a Generation by Eboo Patel, Minaret by Leila Aboulela and How Does It Feel to Be a Problem?: Being Young and Arab in America by Moustafa Bayoumi.  This program is free and open to the public.  Books will be provided to participants as a loan, however they may also purchase their own copies.  If you are interested in the program and would like more information, or wish to sign up, please call (716) 923-4386 or email or visit
