After a devastating fire that completely destroyed Muhammad Mosque which was located at Walden and Genesee this past October, we are asking for the help and support of our WNY Muslim community, in helping to rebuild the mosque. There was an emergency demolition of the building, with a bill of $50,000 that is owed to the city of Buffalo, for demolition costs.
There will be a three day Saviours’ Day convention from February 20-22, 2015. The events of the 3 day convention will also serve as fundraisers to help recover, after the fire.
On Friday, February 20th, there will be a Joint Jumuah prayer at Masjid Nu’man 1373 Fillmore at 1pm. Also, on Friday evening, there will be a Black Tie Saviours’ Day Ball at Metropolitan Entertainment Complex 1670 Main St. from 5pm to 10pm. There will be a program journal ad book distributed at the black tie ball, and throughout the weekend’s event. Tickets for the black tie formal ball are $50.00. If you are interested in sponsoring a table seating, please contact Dahveed Muhammad on (716)335-2292.
On Saturday, February 21st, there will be a Saviours’ Day Educational Workshops/panel discussion at Crucial Community Center 230 Moselle St. from 10am to 5pm.
On Sunday, February 22nd, there will be a Live Webcast Saviours’ Day Keynote Address by the Hon. Min. Louis Farrakhan at Pratt Willert Community Center 422 Pratt St. near Genesee on Sunday at 3pm.
Re-building the mosque and school will be a long term project. In the shorter term, the land at Walden and Genesee is being cleared and leveled, and the lot is also being prepared for an open air community vendors market place, which will also include a farmer’s market. Please also consider sponsoring the market place, which will help to generate ongoing revenue for the long term re-building project. We are asking sponsors to contribute $2,500 toward helping to fund the community market.
