FOR IMMEDIATE PRESS RELEASE
Monday, April 10th 2017

WNYMuslims is deeply saddened and condemns the bomb blast in the Coptic Churches in Egypt on Palm Sunday and sends condolences to the families of over 40 victims killed.

Egypt's President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi has announced a three month state of emergency in the country after this horrendous event. ISIS has claimed the responsibility of these acts. President Donald Trump in several tweets on Sunday said “So sad to hear of the terrorist attack in Egypt. U.S. strongly condemns. I have great... ...confidence that President Al Sisi will handle situation properly,"
Egypt has been a melting pot of civilization where multiple states have lived in peace for centuries. This is an effort to undermine the harmonious culture and to malign the religion whose very meaning is peace.  WNYMuslims believes that the best remedy to fight extremist violence is to build a society that protects human rights, democracy and freedom of speech. These are the weapons against the poisonous propaganda of ISIS.We call on Egyptian authorities specially the President Abdul Fattah al Sisi to bring the perpetrators to justice, to provide adequate security to religious minorities and to commit to democratic reforms so the ills of the society can be addressed.

WNYMuslims prays for the injured to make speedy recovery and for the families who have lost their dear ones. WNYMuslims are not deterred from this cowardly act of bigoted violence in continuing the interfaith and intercultural efforts for betterment of world peace.
