A free event took place on Sunday December 18th for Milaad Un Nabi also known as “Celebration of Our Prophet” to commemorate Muhammad’s(PBUH) birthday.
The festivities began at 5 pm in the beautifully decorated common area of the Jaffarya Center in Amherst.
The area included a stage where the Imam and several speakers said a dua. WNY Muslims founder, Faizan Haq, addressed everyone to thank them for coming. The central theme of the night streamlined with the idea of how Muslims can live an honorable life, like Muhammad (PBUH) did.
Harmonious naat/ nasheed were recited in celebration of the prophet. At the end of the ceremony, children were invited to the stage to answer trivia questions about the history of the holiday.
Since a traditional communal meal is normally shared for the festivities, delicious food was prepared including a cake that was devoured!
WNY Muslims had a table at the event which allowed people the opportunity to get involved and volunteer at events similar to this one.
People left the event feeling cheerful as it concluded at 8 pm.
