Dozens of people of all ages gathered at Wende Park this past Saturday, August 29, 2015 to participate in the second annual After Eid Play-offs which was coined after the NBA Play-Offs.
The event attracted people of all ages to play and many as spectators as well. The organizer of the event, Brother Jaabir, commented that sports always brings people together. The event was affordable for all at only $3 per person to play. This event was sponsored by the Jami Masjid, Islamic Society of Niagara Frontier (ISNF), WNYMuslims and the Buffalo Nomads.
This event provided a platform to Muslim males to play together in a safe and fun environment to promote unity and brotherhood in the community. The undeniable spirit of brotherhood in the park that day was evident. Members of the community look forward to more playoffs in the years to come. As Muslims, we should take it upon ourselves to engage everyone in the community and make events such as this one more frequent so that everyone can join in the fun.
