Video of The Week - What If the Syrian Crisis was Happening Here?

This unique video by 'Save The Children UK' illustrates the effects of war on children. More importantly, it brings light to the devastating Syrian crisis which is entering its 2nd anniversary.

The video uses the image of a little girl with brown hair and blue eyes from the UK to get the moving message across of what it would look like if the war were happening in a 1st world country.

In little over a minute, viewers watch the transition and fear which overtakes one living in a war zone, raising the very important notion that "Just because it isn't happening here, doesn't mean it isn't happening."

Featured Photograph of the Week

This week's feature is by WNYMuslims' own Executive Director Amani A. Amani has been the Executive Director of WNYMuslims for the past year and will be leaving her position this month in order to finish her higher education. She considers photography and media a passion, and enjoys capturing light in all forms.

"It is my pleasure to be sharing one of my favorite recent photos with the WNYMuslims community entitled 'Siratul Mustaqeem'. It breaks my heart to announce that I will be resigning from my wonderful position as Executive Director of WNYMuslims in order to focus on my academic studies. Allah swt guides us all on our own predestined paths, and all we can do is pray that we are lucky enough to be led on 'Siratul Mustaqeem.' Here's to the start of a new chapter, and the end of a great experience, thank you all for the journey. May God continue to be with this wonderful organization and this wonderful community. Ameen."

If you have taken a photograph that you think should be featured, please send it in with a description of the shot, and a short bio of yourself to wnym@wnymuslims.org.
